LONDON | USA (6 June 2017) – Cancel Donald Trump state visit, says Sadiq Khan, after London attack tweets – London mayor says US president is wrong about many things and that state visit to Britain should not go ahead.

The London mayor, Sadiq Khan, has called on the British government to cancel a planned state visit by Donald Trump after being criticised in two tweets by the US president.

Trump initially criticised Khan for his response to the London Bridge terrorist attack; though, in doing so, he misquoted London’s mayor. Khan’s office pointed out Trump’s error later but the president responded by accusing London’s mayor of making a “pathetic excuse”.

Appearing on Channel 4 News on Monday evening, Khan said Trump was wrong about “many things” and that his state visit should not go ahead.

“I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for,” he said.

FYI –

1). THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE (15 Sept. 2016) London Mayor Sadiq Khan comes to Chicago this week as the most powerful elected Muslim official in the Western world — but he’s unlikely to tout his ties to one of Chicago’s most prominent Muslims.

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan’s fiery rhetoric and past references to Jews as “bloodsuckers” don’t sit easily with the message of tolerance and inclusion that Khan is expected to project during his two-day stay.

But 15 years ago, boxing aficionado Khan was very much in Farrakhan’s corner when he acted as Farrakhan’s lawyer in an attempt to overturn the British government’s long-standing ban on Farrakhan entering the U.K.

p.s., As an American I have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with alot of the English backstabbing academic slobs working Rome, Italy and elsewhere in England… As for Mayor Sadiq Khan, he is no different, pretty much your average rude English snob…!

  1. I wonder why you posted this item on Mayor Sadiq Khan. This article is very one sided, presenting the US as the saviour of Europe when in fact many countries contributed to the Allied Victory. Canada amongst the brave, all over Europe, in Italy and in England. Contrary to the USA who waited until 1942 to come into the war, we entered the War immediately in Sept ’39. President Trump is unhinged and he is demonstrating this each day. His critic of the Mayor of London is beneath contempt, he misquoted the man and Trump has little understanding of World events and he demonstrated it at NATO and elsewhere with the Pope etc.. All the Allies sacrificed for Europe not just one country and now 72 years after the fact this type of news item is nonsense. I really do not see the relation in that article with the attacks in London and WWII and the critic by Trump of Mayor Khan who is an well educated and sensible man.
