ITALY, The Politics of Beni Culturali, Berlusconi’s MiBAC Appointee’s – New Arrest in the Girolamini library Scandal & Italian Artifacts on Sale at Christie’s in New York (30 January 2013).
It hard to imagine, but the long-term neglect, and looting of Italy’s Cultural Heritage conducted by Silvio Berlusconi [Italy’s Prime Minister, 8 May 2008 – 16 November 2011], his numerous political appointees, scholarly advisors, and other members with Berlusconi’s PDL Party. However, apparently these known criminal activities, and subsequent ongoing criminal investigations of Berlusconi, and others members within Italy’s PDL Party, this may or may not have an effect on Berlusconi’s current standing of running for Italian Prime Minister for the forthcoming Italian National Elections on 24 February 2013.
If Berlusconi is re-elected as Prime Minister, and his PDL regains a substantial gain during Italy’s National election in February 2013. This will have a profound devastating impact on Italy’s Cultural Heritage, but also on Italy’s professional body of Italian university students and scholars. This body of professional’s – students and scholars, who are largely responsible, but are severely limited politically and economically, in properly caring for, safeguarding, and enhancing Italy’s Cultural Heritage. These devastating political and economic restrictions are largely due to the effects of political corruption within the Italian Ministry of Culture by Berlusconi, and his former political and scholarly advisers.
