ARCHEOLOGY IN ROME: The Temple of Divine Trajan in Rome (1933-2012), Confused yet? [Foto: Italo Gismondi 1933?].

Dott. Baldassarri’s article [Poala Baldassarri: Nuove indagini archeologiche a Palazzo Valentini. Il tempio dei Divi Traiano e Plotina. FORMA VRBIS – ITINERARI NASCONTI DI ROMA ANTICA. Anno. XVII / n. 5, Maggio 2012, pp. 45-52.] was published a month before, Prof. Carandini’s, ATLANTE ROMA (2012), see:

ROMA ARCHEOLOGIA – Prof. Andrea Carandini, ROMA – L’ Urbis ricostruita meraviglia in 3D. “Qui c` e’ Il Tempio di Traiano e Plotina ai Fori, di cui in tanti hanno negato l’ existenza.” IL MESSAGGERO (08/06/2012), p. 21.

After reading and the looking over the article (Baldassarri 2012), this is a bit confusing: various reconstructions of the Temple now with eight column front, or six column front….??????????

– P. Baldassarri 2012, temple of Trajan with eight column front.

– A. Carandini / F. Cavallero [ATLANTE 2012], t. Trajan with six columns front.

-A. Carandini / F. Cavallero [Archeologia Viva 2011], first reconstruction of the t. Trajan with six columns front.

– R. Egidi 2011, no temple, but an eight column entrance to the Column Trajan,

– R. Meneghini 2009, no temple, with his eight column entrance to the Column Trajan, but, referencing J.Packer’s reconstruction of the temple (2003).

– A. Claridge 2007, a temple but with a six column front but on a different axis.

– J. Packer 2003/2001, t. Trajan with eight column front.

– A. Carandini 1999, no trace of the Temple.

– J. Packer 1997, t. Trajan with eight column front.

– I. Gismondi 1941/1933, t. Trajan with eight column front.

– G. Gatti 1934, t. Trajan with eight column front.
